Third Eye Meditation

Meditation is wonderful, like any other skill, it takes practice. Therefore, don’t become frustrated if you have trouble sitting still in your beginning meditation sessions. Meditation is centered on freeing your mind from things you worry about. Most people have a mind filled with clutter. For example, they focus on the negative aspects of not achieving a promotion at work and their rising credit card debt. Meditation helps you to remove this clutter and focus on finding a place of peace.

Begin breathing slowly and deeply and become aware of your breath. Relax and rest your hands on your thighs or down by your side, sit upright in a chair or in the lotus position. Close your eyes and gaze up to your 'third eye,' the invisible area located between your eyebrows otherwise known as the seat of intuition. With your eyes closed, allow your eyes to glance up to look towards your third eye and silently think of the mantra "OM".

To get the most out of this meditation it should be practiced 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. Meditation has proven to decrease heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol stress hormone level. It has been shown through studies at various medical universities that meditation affects brain waves in a positive manner to promote peace and relaxation. Meditation can help with whole body health and healing!
